• Adam B. Schaffer, PhD

    Adam Schaeffer is Founder and Chief Behavioral Scientist at Evolving Strategies. He’s consumed by an itch to understand what makes people tick and why they think and do the things they do.

    He considers himself a research biologist who studies the behavior of the most fascinating animal on the planet: Homo sapiens.

    Adam has spent the last twelve years designing, executing, and analyzing randomized-controlled experiments in order to maximize the impact of advertising and optimize messaging tactics.

    He has a Ph.D. in Political Science with a specialization in political psychology and behavior from the University of Virginia and an M.A. in Social Science from the University of Chicago.

    His academic research and teaching centered around social psychology and human behavior, and this emphasis continues to animate his applied research.

  • Alexander J. Oliver, PhD

    Alex Oliver is Chief Data Scientist at Evolving Strategies. Every election cycle, he codes data pipelines to ingest, process, store, analyze, and visualize voter data for tens of millions of American voters.

    He develops data- and analytics-driven campaign messaging strategies for political independent expenditure organizations.

    His research conducted at Evolving Strategies was recently published in the peer-reviewed Political Research Quarterly and estimated counter-disinformation advertisements’ impact on voter skepticism toward false news.

    He has held faculty appointments at Brandeis University and Boston University where he taught undergraduate and graduate courses in quantitative campaign strategy, public opinion, voter behavior, and congressional behavior.

    He has a Ph.D. in Political Science with specializations in American politics and quantitative methods from Boston University and an M.A. in Economics from Tufts University.
